Kids Panelled Jogger Pants

Kids’ panelled jogger pants made for school, weekends and sport. The fit is relaxed through the hip and thigh and tapered to a ribbed ankle cuff, with a deep rise and a gusset so children can run, climb and sit cross-legged without pulling the waist down. The elasticated waistband has a soft inner band and does not roll or twist in the wash. Panelled construction allows colour blocking and reinforced knee panels, which is where joggers usually wear through first. The fabric is a cotton-rich fleece or French terry, 240–320 gsm, pre-shrunk with shrinkage controlled to about 3% and tested for pilling. Trims are nickel-free where required. Sizes 2T–12Y. MOQ 100 pieces per colourway, sampling 7–10 working days, bulk 25–40 days.

Kids’ Panelled Joggers

Wholesale and private label

Overview

These are kids’ joggers built with panelled construction, made for everyday wear at school, at the weekend and for sport. The fit is relaxed through the hip and thigh and tapered to a ribbed cuff at the ankle, so the leg stays where it should when a child runs, jumps and climbs. The waist is elasticated with a soft inner band, so the joggers go on and off without a fight, and the panelled body allows colour blocking and reinforced knee panels without adding weight. Sizes run 2T–12Y, or 90–160 cm, and can be graded to your own size chart. MOQ is 100 pieces per colourway.

Why buyers choose this style

Joggers are the highest-turn item in a kidswear range, because parents replace them every season and children wear them three or four times a week. This style sells because it solves the three things parents complain about: waistbands that pinch, knees that wear through, and joggers that lose their shape after a month of washing. The panelled build lets us put a reinforcement panel where the wear happens without making the jogger look bulky.

For the buyer, the style is simple to repeat. The panel layout, the fit and the trim colours are fixed on an approved sample, so a second or third order matches the first. The jogger can be offered in solid colours, colour blocking or print, and it shares fabric and trims with the rest of a kidswear programme, which makes it easy to order alongside hoodies and jackets. With a 100-piece MOQ and a 7–10 day sample, it is a low-risk style to test.

Built for movement

The fit is designed around movement. The rise is cut deep enough that the jogger does not pull down when a child sits or squats, and the hip and thigh are relaxed so there is room to run and climb without the fabric gripping. The knee is given a slight amount of extra room, because a tight knee is what makes a child pull joggers down or refuse to wear them.

Where the style allows it, a gusset is added at the crotch. A gusset costs a little more in cutting and sewing, but it removes the tight point that causes splitting and it makes the jogger comfortable for a child who is climbing or sitting cross-legged.

Seams are flat-locked or cover-stitched through the seat and inner leg, so there is no ridge rubbing against the skin during a full day of wear. Waist and side seams are joined with a soft stitch rather than a heavy overlock, and the inside of the waistband is finished so it does not scratch.

Panelled construction and colour blocking

The panels are cut separately and joined with flat seams or topstitched joins, depending on the look you want. A contrast side panel running from the waist to the ankle is the classic sports look; a knee panel in a darker shade is the practical version, because it hides wear and reads as a design feature. The same pattern can be used across the size range, so the panel line stays in proportion from 2T to 12Y.

Colour blocking is planned at the sample stage. Body and panel colours are matched under D65 light, and all panels in one colour are cut from the same fabric lot, so there is no shade or shrinkage difference between the body and the side panel. If the panels are in a different fabric, the shrinkage of both fabrics is checked after washing, so the seam does not pucker after the first wash.

Stitching through the panels is reinforced at the points that take the load: pocket corners, the crotch, the side seam and the cuff join. Bar tacks are used instead of a simple backstitch, because that is the detail that keeps a pocket from tearing when a child pulls on it.

Fabric and warmth without bulk

The fabric is a cotton-rich fleece or French terry in the 240–320 gsm range. Fleece with a brushed back is warmer and softer against the skin and is the better choice for autumn and winter; French terry is lighter and smoother, and it is the better choice for spring and for indoor sport. Both hold colour well and take a print or an embroidery cleanly.

Cotton content matters for comfort: cotton breathes, it does not build up static, and it feels cool on the skin when a child is running. A small percentage of elastane, usually 4–8%, is added so the jogger recovers its shape at the knee, the seat and the waistband instead of stretching out. A polyester blend reduces cost and increases durability, but the hand feel becomes more synthetic, and the trade-off should be decided on the sample.

Pilling is the most common complaint about fleece joggers, and it shows up first at the inner thigh, the knee and the seat where the fabric rubs against itself. We control this by selecting a higher-twist yarn, by testing pilling on a Martindale machine before bulk, and by offering an anti-pilling finish for higher price points. Colourfastness, shrinkage and stretch recovery are tested at the same time, so the buyer knows how the jogger behaves after washing.

Waistband, cuffs and safety details

The waistband is elasticated and finished with a soft inner band, so it does not roll, twist or dig in. The elastic is stitched in place at the side seams so it cannot migrate inside the channel, which is what causes a twisted waistband after washing.

Drawcords are a safety point rather than a design point in children’s clothing. On sizes up to 7 years, no neck or waist drawcord is used in line with EN 14682 and similar standards; the waist is adjusted by the elastic itself, or by a flat, fully enclosed elastic band. Above that age, a drawcord can be used if it is short, fully anchored at both ends and has no toggles that could catch.

Ankle cuffs are knitted in 2×2 rib, which recovers after stretching instead of going slack. This is what keeps the jogger in place and stops the hem dragging on the ground, and it also allows a loose fit through the leg without the cuff letting cold air in.

All metal and plastic hardware, including zip ends, eyelets and cord ends, is checked for sharp edges and burrs, and is nickel-free where the market requires it.

Easy care and long wear

The fabric is pre-shrunk or garment washed before cutting, with shrinkage controlled to about 3%, so the jogger does not come back from a wash one size smaller. Colour is dyed on the fabric rather than on the finished garment, which gives an even shade through the panels and avoids the streaky look that appears when a blended knit is piece-dyed.

Care is deliberately simple: machine wash at 30°C inside out, tumble dry on low or dry flat, and iron on the reverse if needed. Printing and embroidery are checked after washing so that the decoration survives the same wash cycle the parents will use.

Fit and sizes

The jogger is cut relaxed through the hip and thigh with a tapered leg and a ribbed cuff. Grading, inseam, rise, waist relaxed and waist stretched are developed to your own size chart. Reference sizes 2T–12Y, or 90–160 cm, confirmed on the order.

Customization

Colours: Pantone matching, solid dyeing, garment dyeing and colour blocking on the panels.

Panels: side panel, knee panel, back yoke and piping, in your layout and colour combination.

Decorations: screen print, digital print, embroidery, patches and reflective piping for visibility.

Waist and cuffs: elastic width, drawcord options, rib colour and cuff depth.

Labels and packaging: woven labels, care labels, hangtags, barcodes and patches, plus poly bags, header cards or retail boxes with carton markings.

Sampling and production timeline

  1. Inquiry. Send a photo, a sketch or a tech pack.
  2. Fabric. Confirm the fleece or terry, its weight, hand feel and shade, 3–7 days.
  3. Pattern. Panel layout, fit and grading, 2–3 days.
  4. Sample. First sample, 7–10 working days per round.
  5. Approval. Your sign-off on fit, panels, colours and trims.
  6. Bulk. Production, 25–40 days after approval and deposit.
  7. Shipment. Final inspection and packing, then sea, air or express.

Most jogger styles are approved in two rounds: the first sample confirms the fit and the panel layout, the second confirms the colours, decoration and trims. A pre-production sample is approved before the bulk fabric is cut.

Quality control, stage by stage

  • Fabric and rib checked on arrival, including shade and hand feel.
  • Panel balance and seam alignment checked during sewing.
  • Measurement, colour and label verification.
  • Waist elasticity, cuff recovery and pocket strength checked.
  • Needle detection on every garment.
  • Third-party inspection arranged at your request.

Because the knee and seat take the most wear, the final inspection includes a stretch and recovery check on the waistband and cuffs, and any panel that is off balance is rejected before packing.

Minimum order quantity

The MOQ is 100 pieces per colourway, and mixed sizes within one colour are accepted, so a 100-piece order can cover a full size run. This applies across our whole range, which lets buyers test the fit and the sell-through before placing a larger order. Custom dyeing, custom prints or special trims may require a higher quantity, confirmed at quotation stage.

What we need from you

  • A clear photo, a sketch, a sample from another market or a full tech pack.
  • Your size range and grading, or we can develop one and send it for approval.
  • Panel layout and colour combination, or a reference sample.
  • Pantone references for the body and the panels.
  • Label, hangtag and packaging requirements, plus barcode details.
  • Destination country and any testing standard your market requires.

If you prefer to work with your own fabric, ship it to us and we will confirm the hand feel, shade and shrinkage before cutting.
