Girls’ Black Lace Knit Dress
Girls’ black lace knit dress made for wholesale and private-label orders from 100 pieces. The body is a cotton-blend jersey knit with elastane, so it stretches with the child and recovers after wearing, while soft black lace adds texture and a scalloped edge at the neckline, sleeves or hem. The lace is chosen for a soft hand rather than a stiff finish, and the knit and lace are dyed in the same lot so the black matches under shop lighting. The dress is cut close to the body without being tight, so children can move and dress themselves easily. It suits parties, family occasions and school events, and layers over tights in cooler weather. Sizes run 2T–12Y and can be graded to your size chart. Custom colours, lace patterns and packaging are available. Sampling takes 7–10 working days, bulk production 25–40 days. Send a photo or tech pack to start.
Girls’ Black Lace Knit Dress
Wholesale and private label
Overview
This is a girls’ black knit dress that combines a soft knit body with lace detail, so it reads as a special-occasion piece rather than a basic jersey dress. The bodice and skirt are knitted in a cotton-blend jersey that stretches with the body and keeps its shape, while the lace adds texture and a soft scalloped edge at the neckline, sleeves or hem. It is designed for birthday parties, family occasions, school performances and holidays, and it can be worn with tights in cooler weather or on its own in summer. Sizes run 2T–12Y and are graded to your own size chart. MOQ is 100 pieces per colourway.

Why buyers choose this style
A black dress is the easiest item in a girls’ wear range to sell because parents buy it for occasions, and it works across seasons. Adding lace turns a plain knit dress into something that looks dressed up without making it uncomfortable. The knit body moves with a child who is running, sitting, and climbing, and the lace gives the dress the texture that shows up in photographs.
For the buyer, the style is simple to repeat. The knit and the lace are ordered in the same dye lot, the fit is fixed on an approved sample, and the MOQ is 100 pieces per colorway across our whole range. Sampling takes 7–10 working days per round and bulk production takes 25–40 days, so the dress fits a normal buying calendar without special arrangements.

Black lace, used where it matters
Lace placement is the decision that makes or breaks this style. A narrow lace yoke across the chest, lace sleeve panels, or a lace trim at the hem all read differently, and the same dress can be positioned as a party dress or a school-occasion dress depending on where the lace sits. The sample confirms the placement, the width of the lace and the direction of the pattern before bulk.
The dress uses a soft lace rather than a stiff, scratchy one. Lace that is stiff enough to hold a shape often feels rough against a child’s skin, especially at the neckline and under the arms where the fabric moves. We select lace with a soft hand, and where it touches the skin directly, we cover the seam with a soft binding or knit facing so nothing scratchy touches the neck or underarm.
Edges are finished with a scalloped lace border where the design allows it, so the hem and the neckline keep the lace pattern instead of being cut straight. Scalloped edges are cut by hand or with a die, so the pattern must be planned carefully: the lace repeat must match the panel size, and for graded sizes the scallop at the hem must stay balanced from the smallest to the largest.
Black lace has one practical issue that buyers notice: the tone can vary between lots. Two black lace batches from different suppliers can look noticeably different side by side on a shelf. We order the knit and the lace together, dye them to the same black reference, and check the shade under D65 light before cutting, so the body and the lace match under shop lighting.

Knit bodice: comfort, stretch and coverage
The body is knitted in a cotton-blend jersey with a small percentage of elastane. The knit gives the dress the stretch that children need: it goes on over the head without a fight, and it recovers after wearing, so the dress does not look stretched out at the knees, the seat or the neckline. The elastane content also holds the shape through washing, which matters because parents wash children’s clothes often.
Coverage is checked on the body, not on the table. Black knit can look opaque when flat and then read differently when stretched over a shoulder or knee, so we test the fabric on a mannequin at the size where the stretch is highest and adjust the fabric weight or add a lining panel where needed. For dresses cut close to the body, a light knit lining or a heavier single jersey is used so the dress stays opaque in daylight.
Construction is kept simple and comfortable. Shoulder seams are taped or covered so they do not rub, the neckline is finished with a soft binding or a stretch band, and the waist seam, where there is one, is sewn with a soft cover stitch rather than a bulky overlock join. If the style has a skirt panel, position the join where the fabric moves least so the seam doesn’t pull when the child sits down.
The closure is chosen for the age range. Younger sizes usually use a stretch neckline or a keyhole button at the back, which is easy for an adult to fasten; older sizes can take a short back zip. Zip ends are covered, and the puller is small and smooth so it does not catch on hair or skin.

Fabric, lace and care
The knit body is a cotton-blend jersey, usually with 4–8% elastane for stretch and recovery. Cotton keeps the dress breathable and comfortable against the skin, while elastane provides stretch and shape recovery that pure cotton jersey lacks. The lace is a soft nylon or cotton-blend lace, chosen for a soft hand and a clean edge.
We test both the knit and the lace before bulk. We check colorfastness because black dye can bleed in the wash, especially when lace and knit are washed together; we check the knit for pilling and snagging; we check shrinkage after washing; and we check stretch recovery on the jersey. Where the buyer’s market requires it, we can test for formaldehyde, azo dyes and pH value, and for children’s clothing requirements such as small parts and sharp points.
Care instructions are part of the design, not an afterthought. Lace snags on zips, Velcro, and hooks in the wash, so the care label recommends washing the dress inside a laundry bag on a gentle cycle, or by hand, and drying it flat rather than in a tumble dryer. Iron on the reverse at low temperature, and avoid bleach because it damages both the elastane and the lace.

Fit and sizes
The dress is cut to fit close to the body without being tight, with enough room at the shoulder and the armhole for a child to move and dress herself. Sizes run 2T–12Y, or 90–160 cm, and the grading, the length of the skirt, the sleeve length and the position of the lace are all developed to your own size chart. The size range and the length are confirmed on the order.
Customization
Colors: black is standard; the same style can be developed in navy, burgundy, ivory or a seasonal Pantone shade.
Lace: select different lace patterns, widths, and scallop sizes, and place the lace at the neckline, sleeves, waist, hem, or across the whole skirt.
Fit: skirt length, sleeve length and neckline depth adjusted to your measurements.
Labels and packaging: woven labels, care labels, hangtags, barcodes and patches, plus poly bags, header cards or retail boxes with carton markings.

Sampling and production timeline
- Inquiry. Send a photo, a sketch or a tech pack.
- Fabric and lace. Confirm the jersey, the lace, and the black shade, 3–7 days.
- Pattern. Fit, grading, and lace placement: 2–3 days.
- Sample. First sample, 7–10 working days per round.
- Approval. Your sign-off on fit, lace placement and trims.
- Bulk. Production, 25–40 days after approval and deposit.
- Shipment. Final inspection and packing, then sea, air or express.
Most lace styles are approved in two rounds: the first sample confirms the fit and the silhouette; the second confirms the lace placement, the shade, and the trims. We approve a pre-production sample before cutting the bulk fabric.
Quality control, stage by stage
- Knit and lace checked on arrival, including shade and hand feel.
- Lace placement and panel balance checked during sewing.
- Measurement, colour and label verification.
- Seam strength and closure function checked.
- Needle detection on every garment.
- Third-party inspection arranged at your request.
Because lace is a delicate material, the final inspection includes a snag-and-pull check, and we replace any damaged lace panel before packing.
Minimum order quantity
The MOQ is 100 pieces per colorway, and we accept mixed sizes within one color, so a 100-piece order can cover a full size run. This applies across our whole range, letting buyers test fit and sell-through before placing a larger order. Custom lace, custom dyeing, or special trims may require a higher quantity because of the minimum order at the lace mill, and this is confirmed at the quotation stage.
