Kids Cotton Spring Jacket

A kids’ jacket built for early spring and autumn in 100% cotton. The cotton twill or canvas shell is garment washed and pre-shrunk to about 3% shrinkage, so it feels soft from the first wear and keeps its size after washing. The stand collar is interlined to stay upright, and ribbed or elasticated collar, cuffs and hem keep cold air out without riding up. A panelled body allows colour blocking, and the chest embroidery is developed from your artwork, with Pantone thread matching and a wash-tested panel that prevents puckering. Trims are nickel-free where required, and there are no neck drawcords on sizes up to 7 years, in line with EN 14682. Sizes run 2T–12Y. MOQ 100 pieces per colourway, sampling 7–10 working days, bulk production 25–40 days.

Kids’ 100% Cotton Stand-Collar Jacket with Chest Embroidery

Wholesale and private label

Overview

This is a children’s jacket made in 100% cotton, designed for early spring and autumn and for the mild days on either side of winter. It is a light outerwear layer rather than a heavy coat, so it works when the morning is cold and the afternoon warms up: children can wear it open over a T-shirt or buttoned over a sweatshirt without overheating. The style is a zip-through jacket with a stand collar, a panelled body and embroidery on the chest, and it is cut to be worn at school, at the weekend and on family trips. Sizes run 2T–12Y, or 90–160 cm, and can be graded to your own size chart. MOQ is 100 pieces per colourway.

Why buyers choose this style

Parents buy a jacket on touch and trust. A 100% cotton shell reads as breathable and comfortable in the shop, and it washes without the shine or static that synthetic shells develop. The stand collar is interlined so it holds its shape instead of collapsing after a few wears, and the ribbed or elasticated collar, cuffs and hem give the jacket a clean line while keeping cold air out when children run, climb and lift their arms. The body is cut slightly A-line with a longer back, so it layers over a sweatshirt and stays down when a child bends or reaches.

For the buyer, the style is simple to repeat. The pattern, panel lines and embroidery placement are fixed on an approved sample, so a second or third order matches the first without redrawing anything. The jacket can be offered in solid colours, colour blocking or print, in sizes 2T to 12Y, and it fits the same size run as most kidswear programmes. Because the shell is cotton, the fabric is easy to source in most markets, and quality is controlled on the line rather than at the end.

Made for early spring and autumn

The jacket is positioned for the shoulder seasons, which is the part of the year that is hardest to buy for. In early spring the mornings are still cold, so the jacket needs to hold warmth when a child leaves the house; by the afternoon the temperature has risen, so it also needs to be light enough to carry or tie around the waist. Cotton works well here because it breathes, and the light construction means the child does not end up sweating and then getting cold.

For autumn the same logic applies in reverse. The jacket is warm enough over a long-sleeve T-shirt in September and October, and it still works in November when a sweatshirt is worn underneath. Because the body is a single layer with a light lining, it packs down small into a school bag, which is one of the reasons parents keep this style in the wardrobe for months rather than weeks.

The cuffs and hem are finished with rib or elastic, which is what stops a light jacket from riding up on the body. The sleeve is cut long enough that it does not leave the wrist exposed when the arm is stretched out, and the stand collar sits high enough to cover the neck when the wind picks up, without pressing on the chin when the jacket is zipped to the top.

Chest embroidery, made from your artwork

Send a picture, a sketch or a finished logo. We build the embroidery file from it.

Placement is normally 6 to 8 cm from the centre front and 4 to 6 cm below the collar seam, but it is set to your artwork. We match thread colours to Pantone, send a stitch-out for approval, and keep stitch count, density and fill within what the cotton panel can carry without distorting the chest.

Embroidery on 100% cotton needs a cutaway or tear-away backing to stop the fabric from puckering. The embroidered panel is washed with the garment during finishing, so any shrinkage or puckering shows up before bulk, not after the goods are packed. If the design is dense, we can reduce fill or use a lighter backing to keep the hand of the fabric soft.

Panelled body, not a plain front

The chest, sleeve and lower-body panels are cut separately and joined with flat-felled, overlocked or topstitched seams, depending on the look you want. Panelling gives the jacket shape without adding bulk.

Body and sleeves can be cut in different colours, or in the same colour with a different weave, twill direction or print. We match shades under D65 light and cut every panel from the same fabric lot, so there is no shade or shrinkage difference between the body and the sleeves.

The front zip runs to the top of the collar with an internal wind flap and a chin guard. Zips, snaps and cord ends are nickel-free where required, and pullers are sized for small hands.

100% cotton, garment washed

Shell: cotton twill or canvas from 240 to 320 gsm for a structured jacket, or 180 to 220 gsm twill or poplin for a lighter spring version.

Wash: pre-shrunk or enzyme washed before cutting. Shrinkage is controlled to about 3% in warp and weft, and the wash takes the stiffness out of the cloth.

Lining: cotton poplin at around 110 gsm, or cotton jersey at 160 to 180 gsm for a softer feel against the body. Sleeve linings are anchored at the cuff.

Safety: no neck drawcords on sizes up to 7 years, in line with EN 14682 and similar children’s clothing safety standards. Prints are non-phthalate and hardware is nickel-free where required.

Testing: fabrics and embroidery can be tested for colourfastness, pH, formaldehyde, azo dyes, pilling and dimensional stability, to the standard your market requires.

Fit and sizes

The jacket is cut for layering over a T-shirt, sweatshirt or light knit. Armholes are kept deep, the body sits slightly A-line rather than close-fitting, and shoulder seams are set slightly forward so they do not press on the shoulder point. Grading, sleeve length and body length are developed to your own size chart. Reference sizes 2T–12Y, or 90–160 cm, confirmed on the order.

Customization

Colours: Pantone matching on the shell, solid dyeing, garment dyeing, yarn-dyed checks and colour blocking on the panels.

Embroidery: your artwork on the chest, thread colours matched to Pantone, stitch-out approval before bulk.

Fit: sleeve length, body length, collar height and cuff opening adjusted to your measurements.

Labels and packaging: woven labels, care labels, hangtags, barcodes and patches, plus poly bags, header cards or retail boxes with carton markings.

Sampling and production timeline

Inquiry. Send a photo, a sketch or a tech pack.

  1. Fabric. Confirm the cotton, its weight, hand feel and shade, 3–7 days.
  2. Pattern. Panel lines and size grading, 2–3 days.
  3. Sample. First sample, 7–10 working days per round.
  4. Approval. Your sign-off on fit, colour, embroidery and trims.
  5. Bulk. Production, 25–40 days after approval and deposit.
  6. Shipment. Final inspection and packing, then sea, air or express to your port or forwarder.

Most styles are approved in two rounds: the first sample confirms the fit and the panel lines, the second confirms the embroidery, colour and trims. A pre-production sample is approved before the bulk fabric is cut.

Quality control, stage by stage

  • Fabric, trims and embroidery thread checked on arrival.
  • Cutting and sewing inspected during production.
  • Full final inspection before packing.
  • Measurement, colour, embroidery and label verification.
  • Needle detection on every garment.
  • Third-party inspection arranged at your request.

Production photos and inspection reports are shared at key stages, so you can follow the order without visiting the factory.

Minimum order quantity

The MOQ is 100 pieces per colourway, and mixed sizes within one colour are accepted, so a 100-piece order can cover a full size run. This applies across our whole range, which lets buyers test the fit and the sell-through before placing a larger order. Custom dyeing, custom prints or dense embroidery may require a higher quantity, confirmed at quotation stage.

What we need from you

  • A clear photo, a sketch, a sample from another market or a full tech pack.
  • Your size range and grading, or we can develop one and send it for approval.
  • A logo file, vector or high-resolution image, for the chest embroidery.
  • Pantone colour references where possible, so lab dips and thread colours match.
  • Label, hangtag and packaging requirements, plus barcode details.
  • Destination country and any testing standard your market requires.

If you prefer to work with your own fabric, ship it to us and we will confirm the hand feel, shade and shrinkage before cutting.

“I bought two of these for my boys and they have barely taken them off. It is light enough for the walk to school in the morning but still warm when the wind gets up. The embroidery looks much more expensive than the price suggests.”

“Third order from this shop. The cotton is soft straight out of the bag, not stiff like some jackets. My daughter wore it every day for a fortnight and it washed up looking new.”
